Cuba and the Philippines commemorate the 60th anniversary of the FMC

Kuala Lumpur, August 24- Through the online conversation "Cuban and Philippine women in revolutionary struggles" the Cuban embassy in Malaysia, concurrent in the Philippines and the solidarity and cultural association PHILCUBA, was commemorated the 60th anniversary of the Federation of Cuban women.

For the session, the Cuban ambassador to Malaysia, Ibete Fernández Hernández summarized the message of the FMC general secretary, Teresa Amarelle Boué, where she made a comprehensive summary of the organization's achievements and challenges, since its foundation as well as the current work that plays that has allowed the consolidation. Messages were also screened from ICAP's Asia-Pacific director, Leima Martínez, and from the head of the Cuban student friendship and solidarity group, Maria Cárdenas.

On the Philippine side, Ms. Sonia P Soto, president and general manager of RadioWorld Broadcasting Corporation, and the lawyer and activist for women's rights, Jenny Llaguno, shared information about the role of Filipino women in the fight for their emancipation. as well as the challenges they face today where they have not achieved all their demands.

Both recognized the role played by Cuban women, organized in the FMC to guarantee the rights achieved after the triumph of the Revolution and their contribution to continue exhibiting a more just society. They highlighted the work carried out by the founding president of the FMC, as well as her legacy and reaffirmed the need for Filipino women to continue fighting to have their “revolution within the Revolution”, as expressed by the commander in chief.

Fifty-nine women from different Philippine women's organizations participated in the event.
