Rwanda, October 23, 2018.- The new permanent secretary of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Urujeni Bakuramutsa, received the Cuban Ambassador in the East African country, Antonio Luis Pubillones Izaguirre, at the Foreign Ministry's headquarters this morning. Within the framework of a friendly and cordial meeting, both diplomats examined the current state of bilateral relations, as well as their prospects for strengthening them, and showed the interest of their respective governments to work forward to realize their wishes.
After an extensive explanation on various aspects of the current Cuban reality, the Ambassador conveyed his congratulations to Bakuramutsa for her recent appointment and expressed his best wishes for success in carrying out her high responsibility. He also requested her to convey to the Foreign Minister, Richard Sezibera, the congratulations of his Cuban counterpart, Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla, for his recent appointment as well.
Pubillones also took the opportunity to thank the people and Government of Rwanda for their traditional support of the Cuban resolution against the blockade, as well as other multilateral issues of interest to the Greater Antilles. In highlighting her admiration for Cuba, the Rwandan leader assured that her country will vote again in favor of the Cuban resolution on October 31 and reaffirmed the will of her Government to continue supporting Cuba on other issues and making progress in strengthening bilateral relations Also present at the meeting, on the Rwandan side, Jean Hugue Mukama, Cuba’s desk officer at the Foreign Ministry.
