Cuba and Saudi Arabia aim to cooperate at the level of chambers of commerce

Riyadh, September 18th – Ambassador Vladimir Gonzalez visited the headquarters of the Federation of Saudi Chambers (FSC), where he was received by its new president, Hasan Mujeb Al-Hwaizy, who assumed this high responsibility last January. The acting secretary general of the federation, Waleed H. Al-Orainan, was also present in the meeting.

During the interesting and pleasant reunion, Mr. Al-Hwaizy explained that the Federation of Saudi Chambers of Commerce and Industry is the official entity that represents the 28 existing chambers in the Kingdom and was established by Royal Decree in March 1980 with headquarters in Riyadh.

He specified that its main objective is to observe the common interests of these chambers, to represent them at local and international level and to help improving the role of the private sector in the national economy development.

For his part, the Ambassador took advantage of the opportunity to deliver to the president the official invitation to attend the XXXIX edition of the Havana International Fair (FIHAV 2023), to be held from November 6th to 11th, 2023, at ExpoCuba fairgrounds.

Likewise, he conveyed the interest of the Chamber of Commerce of the Republic of Cuba in establishing cooperative relations with the Saudi counterpart, considering the good level of bilateral relations existing between the Kingdom and the Island. To this end, the Cuban side presented a draft cooperation agreement, which is being analyzed by the corresponding Saudi authorities.

Finally, the diplomat expressed the full willingness of the Cuban Embassy in Riyadh to support any proposal or initiative aimed to promote economic and commercial ties between our two countries, based on close coordination and cooperation between the respective chambers of commerce.
