On the Cuban side, the legal instrument was signed by the Ambassador to the Kingdom, Vladimir Gonzalez Quesada, on behalf of the minister of CITMA, while on the Saudi side it was signed by the Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture, Eng. Abdulrahman bin Abdul Mohsen Al-Fadly.

Among its most important aspects, the memorandum seeks to cooperate to raise the level of environmental awareness, develop research, control and prevention of water, soil and air pollution, manage ecosystems and conserve biodiversity and exchange experiences in the areas of environmental protection and biodiversity.

To fulfill these purposes, the agreement establishes the exchange of information and documents, as well as visits between experts and delegations, the organization of conferences, seminars and workshops for experts, and establishing any other form of collaboration agreed bilaterally.

After the signing ceremony, the Cuban Ambassador held a brief interview with the Saudi minister, where he expressed that this memorandum opens a new door to further consolidate bilateral ties between Cuba and the Kingdom, in this case through collaboration in the sphere of environmental protection.

For his part, Minister Al-Fadly stressed the importance of the instrument signed, given the common challenges and the broad possibilities that arise for cooperation between the two parties, especially in confronting the negative consequences of climate change that affect not only our two countries, but the whole world.
