Riyadh, September 8th - The corresponding parliamentary friendship groups in the National Assembly of People's Power of Cuba and the Consultative Council (Shura) of Saudi Arabia, held a successful virtual meeting, chaired by their respective presidents, Dr. Santiago Badia Gonzalez and Dr. Ibrahim Mahmoud Al-Nahas.
The meeting witnessed by the Cuban Ambassador in Riyadh, Vladimir Gonzalez, and his counterpart in Havana, Faisal Falah Al-Harbi, was an excellent opportunity to review bilateral relations in the legislative field and the different ways to strengthen them, as well as to propose future projects.
Opening the session, Dr. Al-Nahas listed the different actions carried out in Riyadh from November 2021 to date in the bilateral parliamentary context and thanked the valuable contribution of the concerned Ambassadors in Riyadh and Havana to materialize its success.
For his part, Dr. Badía thanked the opportunity of the virtual meeting and underlined the will of the Cuban parliament, in particular the friendship group he heads, to continue strengthening ties with the Saudi counterpart through the different joint projects proposed. Likewise, he reiterated the invitation for a Shura delegation to visit the Island, a project that has been pending since 2018.
Subsequently, other interventions addressed various issues of common interest, with the purpose of contributing to the achievement of shared goals and reinforcing bilateral work in different fields, especially the cooperation between the two legislative powers.
Both parties ratified their interest in consolidating parliamentary ties, for which they agreed on the need of an effective collaboration and close coordination in the different regional and international spheres. (EmbaCuba Arabia Saudita)
