Singapore, November 21, 2025. Dr. Janil Puthucheary, Senior Minister of State (Education, Sustainability and Environment), today received the Ambassador of Cuba to Singapore, Lisbet Quesada Luna, on a courtesy visit in his new role.
In a cordial atmosphere, the Senior Minister of State and the Cuban diplomat discussed opportunities and shared interests for advancing cooperation and exchange in higher education, science, and sports—priorities for both governments.
The Ambassador highlighted the existing exchange program between the University of Havana and the National University of Singapore (NUS) as a model for further progress and presented the official invitation from the Cuban Minister of Higher Education, Dr. Walter Baluja García, to his counterpart, Desmond Lee, to participate with a large delegation in the upcoming International Congress “University 2026.”
