Ankara, December 30, 2020.  In a meeting held today with the participation of the Director General for Africa of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkey, Nur Sağman and the ambassadors of Cuba and Equatorial Guinea accredited in this capital, Luis A. Amorós Núñez and Moisés Mba Nchama, it was announced the decision of their governments to develop a triangular cooperation project to Fight the COVID-19, through the protection of the Cuban health personnel exposed to the SARS COV2 in Equatorial Guinea.

The Turkish government will donate 50 thousand US dollars to acquire Protection Equipments against the virus for the Cuban Medical Brigade working in Equatorial Guinea. These medical supplies will reduce the risk of contagion of the Cuban health personnel and their level of the exposure to SARS-CoV2, which will allow them to provide a higher level of care to the entire population of this friendly African country.

This project will impact in the quality of health care for the entire population of Equatorial Guinea and in the country's fighting against the Covid-19. The country's health indicators will be improved and universal health coverage will be achieved in all provinces of the country where Cuban collaborators work.

This initiative is in light of the fact that governments of Cuba and Turkey have expressed that COVID-19 pandemic is a problem that requires seeking collective solutions and more international cooperation than before.

The international solidarity shown by Cuba and Turkey in this fight constitutes the greatest premise for the joint development of this project and for helping together the people of Equatorial Guinea.
