UGANDA, November 20, 2018. - The Right Honorable Rebecca Kadaga, President of the National Assembly of Uganda, received the Ambassador of Cuba in this African country, Antonio Luis Pubillones Izaguirre, on a courtesy call on her at 10.30 am this Tuesday.
In a frank and friendly atmosphere, both personalities examined the current state of parliamentary ties and expressed their willingness to work together to expand and strengthen them in the future.
The meeting was propitious for the Cuban diplomat to congratulate the highest figure of the Ugandan Parliament for her recent appointment as head of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Forum and to offer her extensive information on the process of popular consultation on the constitutional reform on the island and the damage that the unjust and obsolete economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States for almost six decades causes the Cuban people and third countries because of its extraterritorial nature. Pubillones thanked the Ugandan people, parliament and government for the traditional Ugandan support for the Cuban resolution against the brutal economic siege, within the framework of the General Assembly of the United Nations on November 1.
Kadaga, for her part, thanked the Ambassador for his visit and took the opportunity to highlight the close links of friendship and solidarity of Cuba with the African continent and, in particular, the collaboration in his country in the spheres of health and education. He also reiterated his country's willingness to continue supporting Cuba on bilateral and parliamentary issues.
Both parties welcomed the current state of bilateral relations and the historic bonds of friendship that unite our parliaments. (Embacuba Uganda)
