Cuba and Venezuela celebrate Intergovernmental Commission

Havana, March 9, 2021.- Deputy Prime Minister Ricardo Cabrisas Ruiz and the Executive Vice President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Delcy Rodríguez Gómez, chaired the XXI session of the Intergovernmental Commission of the Cuba-Venezuela Comprehensive Cooperation Agreement, which met in Havana.
The representatives of both delegations evaluated the defiance and challenges of bilateral collaboration during 2021 and the progress of the projects underway between both countries, marked by the political situation and the challenges imposed by the confrontation with the Covid-19 pandemic.
The exchange also constituted an opportunity for the coordination of actions between both nations to achieve the objectives set out in the National Plan for Economic and Social Development until 2030, of Cuba; and the Homeland Plan (Plan de la Patria) until 2025 and the Resistance and Development program, the latter initiatives of the sister South American nation.
Prior to the meeting, several exchanges were held between the members of the Technical Secretariat of both countries in which they outlined the priorities and conditions that were reflected in the signed minutes.
Likewise, an intergovernmental agreement was signed on agri-food and another on expansion and comprehensive use of Moringa, Thitonia, Moreira and other pastures.
The Cuban delegation was made up of the Minister of Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment, Rodrigo Malmierca Díaz; the Minister of Energy and Mines, Liván Nicolás Arronte Cruz, the Minister of Science, Technology and the Environment, Elba Rosa Pérez Montoya, the Minister of Agriculture, Gustavo Rodríguez Rollero and the Minister of Construction, Rene Mesa Villafaña, among other officials.
The Venezuelan Executive Vice President was accompanied by the Ministers of Popular Power Gabriela Jiménez Ramírez, for Science and Technology; Wilmar Castro Soteldo, for Productive Agriculture and Lands; as well as by Vice Foreign Minister Raúl Li Causi, technical secretary, and Adán Chávez Frías, Venezuelan ambassador to Cuba.
