Cuba and Venezuela united in tribute to fallen heroes.

Kingston, 22 January 2026. Diplomats from the Embassy of Cuba in Jamaica, led by Ambassador Tania López Larroque, participated on Wednesday evening in a vigil organised by the Embassy of the sister Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela in honour of the civilians and military personnel who fell in combat during the US aggression against that territory on 3 January. Representatives of political forces and social movements also participated.

During the tribute, the courage and commitment of the Cuban and Venezuelan combatants who lost their lives defending the sovereignty of the land of Liberator Simón Bolívar were highlighted. The demand for the release of Venezuelan Constitutional President Nicolás Maduro Moros and his wife Cilia Flores, who were kidnapped by US forces in violation of international law, was reiterated.

Jamaican youth read a message sent by the Association of Cuban Residents in Jamaica ‘Antonio Maceo,’ condemning the new imperialist attack.

During her intervention, the Cuban ambassador also reiterated the importance of maintaining unity, anti-imperialism and the fighting spirit of the Latin American and Caribbean peoples, defending the proclamation of Latin America and the Caribbean as a Zone of Peace.
