Cuba and Vietnam to continue strengthening special solidarity and friendship in 2022

The Member of the Party Central Committee, chairman of the National Assembly's Foreign Affairs Committee and leader of the Vietnam Cuba Friendship Association, Vu Hai Ha, expressed Vietnamese Party, State and people will continue to consolidate the special relations of friendship and solidarity with Cuba, during a fraternal visit to the Embassy of the Caribbean country on the eve of Cuba's National Day.

Accompanied by Nguyen Phuong Nga, president of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations, the parliamentarian also reiterated Vietnam's support for the Cuban people's struggle against the US-imposed economic, commercial and financial blockade.

At the meeting, held on the occasion of the 63rd anniversary of the Triumph of Cuban Revolution (1/1/2022) and 61st anniversary of bilateral diplomatic relations (12/2/2021), Ambassador Orlando Hernández Guillén highlighted the visit paid to Cuba by State President Nguyen Xuan Phuc, the first and only high-level visit the Island has received in the context of COVID- 19 and following the success of the 8th National Congress of the Communist Party of Cuba.

Hernández Guillén also remarked on the arrival of the COVID-19 Abdala vaccine to Vietnam in 2021, a product of Cuban biotechnology that has been applied in the provinces of Nghe An and Thai Binh.

The Head of Mission presented the Vietnam Cuba Friendship Association a certificate of recognition for that institution´s rol in promoting friendly relations between the two countries and especially its contribution to the fight against COVID-19 in Cuba during 2021.

Both parties agreed to conceive initiatives and exchanges in 2022, in order to continue strengthening comprehensive cooperation, and promoting in new generations the legacy of the exceptional Vietnam-Cuba friendship ties.
