Vietnam: Lawmakers call for ending US blockade against Cuba
The Vietnam-Cuba Parliamentary Friendship Group called the United States government to put an end to the economic, financial, and commercial blockade and remove the island from Washington's State Sponsors of Terrorism (SSOT) list. In a message of greeting and solidarity sent to the Cuban National People’s Power Assembly (Parliament), the group also urged the US administration to “take the necessary steps to normalize relations” with the Caribbean nation. High-level Vietnamese leaders have repeatedly reaffirmed this stance, the letter underscores, and cited speeches delivered before the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) by To Lam, General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV), last year, and current President Luong Cuong a few days ago.
