Cuba and Zimbabwe strengthen ties in International Relations Studies

Harare, May 27, 2025 - The Cuban Ambassador, Her Excellency Ms. Susellys Perez Mesa, today advocated for the strengthening of academic and research ties in international relations during an exchange with the Director General of the Zimbabwe Foreign Service Institute, Dr. Machikenyka Tobias Mapuranga.

The Head of Mission of the Caribbean country outlined the potential for collaboration in the diplomatic sphere between Cuban entities and the Zimbabwean institution, founded in 2020 and attached to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Trade.

Mapuranga commented on the objectives of the study center and its projections, in which she highlighted the possibilities for cooperation with the Higher Institute of International Relations (ISRI).

During the cordial meeting, the Ambassador highlighted the opportunities to promote joint projects with the ISRI and the Center for International Policy Research (CIPI) in Havana.

They also discussed the Cuban Institute of Higher Education's internationalization strategy and its experience in training diplomats and personnel associated with the foreign service and international relations.

Pérez Mesa also highlighted the CIPI's strengths in research and academic practice related to international relations.

The diplomats also discussed events organized by both Cuban institutions in which the Zimbabwean institution could participate.
