Cuba appreciates the unconditional friendship of Ugandan Deputy Minister Okello.

Kampala. On February 13, the Ambassador of Cuba Tania Perez Xiqués, presented to the Honorable Henry Oryem Okello, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uganda, the 60th Anniversary seal of the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples, established, with the objective of recognize those associations as members of the Solidarity Movement with Cuba, who have developed activities in defense of the Cuban Revolution, contributing to spreading the truth about its political, social and economic transformation, and strengthening friendship between the peoples of the world.

Accompanied by his wife, Mrs. Joyce Okello, the Ugandan deputy minister, visibly moved, said upon receiving the seal, that he was proud to receive such a symbol of recognition from the Cuban people “Cuba is not just any country for a Pan-Africanist.”

The Honorable Okello said that for many years he had admired Cuba as a source of inspiration for many countries, having had the strength to fight against imperialism and for the independence of other African countries. “Despite its economic difficulties, Cuba has continued to cooperate with the rest of the countries of the South with great sacrifice of its people despite facing a 60-year trade crisis and financial embargo by the United States,” he said.
