Cuba attends the ceremony for the 207th anniversary of Venezuela's independence

Responding to the invitation of the Embassy of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela in Tehran, the Ambassador Vladimir Gonzalez Quesada represented Cuba at the ceremony to mark the 207th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence of this nation. The Cuban diplomat joined the other colleagues of missions who represent the Bolivarian Alliance of the Peoples of Our America-Treaty of Peoples' Trade (ALBA-TCP) in the Persian nation: Nicaragua, Bolivia and Ecuador.

The ceremony, headed by the Chargé d'Affaires a.i. of the Bolivarian Embassy, Alexander Ramirez Espinoza, began with the placement of a wreath in front of the Liberator Simon Bolivar statue that stands in the capital park "Gofdegu". Afterwards First Secretary, Sabrina Guire Zamora, took the floor to recall the historical facts of April 19th, 1810, which led to declaring the independence of the South American nation from Spanish colonialism.

The conclusions of the activity were in charge of the Military, Naval and Air Attaché of Venezuela in Iran, General of Division Pedro Ramón Guerrido, who emphasized the importance of the historic Venezuelan ephemeris and thanked the attendees for their presence.

This commemoration coincided with a significant historical date in Cuba, the 56th anniversary of Giron’s Victory, the first major defeat of US imperialism in the western hemisphere. In addition, a few hours later the Venezuelan people was called to take the streets in massive support to the current Bolivarian process led by President Nicolás Maduros Moros.
