Act of piracy and maritime terrorism that reinforces economic war against Cuba

MINREX Statement

On December 10, 2025, US military forces assaulted an oil tanker while it was sailing in international waters in the Caribbean Sea, near the coast of Venezuela.

This act of piracy and maritime terrorism constitutes a serious violation of international law, including the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea and the Convention for the Suppression of Unlawful Acts against the Safety of Maritime Navigation. The United States government is responsible for committing these crimes, which harm the international community as a whole.

The economic warfare against Cuba is being strengthened

In light of the U.S. military escalation in the Caribbean Sea region and ongoing actions against Venezuela and Cuba, the Cuban Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued the following statement:

On December 10, 2025, US military forces rapelled onto an oil tanker while it sailed in international waters in the Caribbean Sea, off the Venezuelan coasts.

Foreign Minister of Cuba issued important statement on the military presence of the United States in the Caribbean

Minister of Foreign Affairs of Cuba appeals to the people of the United States to stop the aggression against Venezuela.

The exaggerated and aggressive military presence of the United States in the region constitutes a threat against Latin America and the Caribbean as a whole. The main and immediate target is the violent overthrow of the government of Venezuela through the use of U.S. military force, an extremely dangerous and irresponsible action with unpredictable and incalculable consequences.

Given the manifest degree of threat, this constitutes a violation of International Law and the Charter of the United Nations.

With a military escalation, an international crime of the highest order would be committed.

Cuba sings and blossoms

The Consulate General of Cuba in Toronto participated, on October 10th and 11th, 2025, in the 1st Festival dedicated to the "trova" musical style held in Toronto, "Cuba sings and blossoms."

Organized by Nancy Quetzal and Ernesto Espinoza, the event featured the Cuban "trovadores" (troubadours) Raul Torres, Fidel Diaz Castro, and Erdwin Vichot, accompanied by a group of artists of different nationalities who joined together, armed with guitars, violins, saxophones, flutes, and poetry to represent the ultimate expression of Cubanness through music.
