On the afternoon of this Thursday, January 8, 2026, friends of Solidarity with Cuba and Cuban residents in Canada gathered at the Cuban Embassy in Ottawa to condemn the aggression of the United States against Venezuela and the kidnapping of President Nicolás Maduro and his wife Cilia Flores, as well as to pay a heartfelt tribute to the fallen combatants.
Several of the attendees took the floor to express their solidarity with Venezuela and Cuba, and to condemn the imperialist barbarism led by the Trump administration.
The keynote remarks were delivered by Dany Tur de la Concepción, Deputy Chief of Mission and Chargé d'Affaires, who reaffirmed the unwavering will of the Cuban people to fight to the ultimate consequences to defend the sovereignty of their homeland: “The decision of the Cuban people is one, and it is the same as that of Fidel, of Martí, and of those who fell in combat this January 3 in Venezuela.'
