Ottawa, June 18, 2026 – Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Josefina Vidal Ferreiro led a Cuban government delegation on a working visit to Ottawa from June 15 to 17. During the visit, she held meetings with officials from Global Affairs Canada, members of Parliament, and representatives of the Canadian business sector and other economic entities.
The Consul General of Cuba in Montreal, Yamari Pérez Viera, paid a working visit to Quebec, where she met with the highest authorities of the Canadian province. The Cuban diplomat greeted Premier Christine Fréchette on the occasion of Quebec’s National Day.

The United States indictment of former Cuban president Raul Castro over his alleged role in the downing of civilian aircraft in 1996 is nothing more than a cynical political stunt far removed from the facts of the incident, designed only to increase pressure on the beleaguered Cuban government with the hope it will finally precipitate the end of the revolution.
On June 6 and 7, the 12th Biennial Convention of the Canadian Network on Cuba (CNC) was held in the city of Toronto. Representatives from more than 20 solidarity organizations that are members of the CNC attended, along with invited friends from other organizations.

The Faculty of Natural Sciences at York University hosted the conference “Solidarity Without Borders,” an event dedicated to Cuba and, in particular, to the achievements of its National Health System. The activity brought together professors, students, members of the Cuban community residing in Toronto, and representatives from various sectors of Canadian society.
