Sports day in Toronto honoring the Centennial of the birth of Fidel Castro Ruz

Toronto, August 9, 2026. The Consulate General of Cuba in Toronto organized a basketball sports day to mark the centennial of the birth of Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro Ruz, as part of the initiatives to commemorate this significant date for the Cuban people.

The activity was attended by members of the Juan Gualberto Gómez Association of Cubans Resident in Toronto and the Latin American and Caribbean Solidarity Network (LACSN), who joined this initiative together with members of the Cuban community and friends of Cuba.

Communist Party of Canada reiterates solidarity with Cuba

July 31, 2026. Cuba’s ambassador to Canada, Rodrigo Malmierca Díaz, met with comrades Drew Garvie, leader of the Communist Party of Canada, and Adrien Welsh, leader of the Communist Party of Quebec.

During the meeting, they discussed the current international situation and the effects of the intensified U.S. blockade against Cuba, particularly the energy blockade measures.

Both communist leaders reiterated the solidarity and support of the Canadian people with Cuba, and in particular that of the Communist Party of Canada (CPC).

Cuba expands opportunities for Cubans living abroad to participate in national economic development

The Embassy of Cuba in Canada informs the Cuban community residing in this country about the new measures approved by the Government of the Republic of Cuba to facilitate and expand the participation of Cubans living abroad in the country's national economic development.

These decisions represent an important step toward strengthening the ties between Cuba and its community abroad by creating a broader and more flexible framework that promotes investment, entrepreneurship, and participation in strategic projects for the country's development.

Montreal commemorates Cuba's National Day of Rebellion

Montreal, July 26, 2026. — Representatives of solidarity organizations with Cuba, Cuban residents, and members of the Consulate General of Cuba in Montreal commemorated this Sunday the 73rd anniversary of the assaults on the Moncada and Carlos Manuel de Céspedes barracks.

During the event, Consul General Yamari Pérez Viera highlighted the historical significance of the date and expressed her gratitude for the continued demonstrations of solidarity and support for the Cuban Revolution.
