Ottawa, February 26, 2026—Senators who are members of the Parliamentary Friendship Group with Cuba held a meeting today with Cuba's Ambassador, Rodrigo Malmierca Díaz, to address the complex situation Cuba is facing after the intensification of the economic and energy blockade established by the United States last January.
Ottawa, February 24, 2026 – Cuba's Ambassador to Canada, Rodrigo Malmierca Díaz, appeared at a public hearing before the House of Commons Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs of the Canadian Parliament to present the effects on the Cuban economy of the blockade imposed by the United States for over six decades, recently exacerbated by Executive Order 14380, issued on January 29, 2026, and signed by President Donald Trump.
Montreal, February 18, 2026. – The delegation of the Republic of Cuba to the Council of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) denounced the total blockade of fuel supplies to Cuba under the January 29 executive order promulgated by the United States government. Cuba stated the order has detrimental effects not only for the Island, “but also for airlines, passengers, third countries, and the general stability of the global aeronautical system.”
