A beacon in Ottawa

On the morning of this Wednesday, October 22nd, the popular Cuban singer-songwriter Raúl Torres shared with part of the collective of the Cuban State Mission in Canada.

In a jovial atmosphere, in greeting to the Day for Cuban Culture, the "trovador" (troubadour) offered four of his most emblematic songs: "Se fue", "Candil de nieve", "El regreso del amigo", dedicated to Commander Hugo Chávez; and "Cabalgando con Fidel", in homage to the Commander in Chief, the latter sung in chorus by those present, who were visibly moved.

Homage to traditions, arts, and expressions that have forged Cuban cultural heritage

The Consulate General of Cuba in Toronto celebrated National Cuban Culture Day this October 20th with an emotional event to pay tribute to the traditions, arts, and expressions that have forged our Cuban cultural heritage, which encompasses the influence and syncretism of an entire cultural amalgamation that gave rise to the birth of our identity.

Present at the event were: Oscar Vigil, president of the Canadian Council for Hispanic Heritage; members of different solidarity organizations with Cuba; and Cuban residents in Toronto.

Reflections of the magic of Cuban culture

Ottawa - This Thursday, October 16th, the exhibition "The Mirror of Our Magical Culture" was inaugurated in this capital city, curated by Lilia Faulkner Carranza, president of the Canadian institution Terra Art, within the framework of the celebrations for Hispanic and Latin Heritage Month in Canada, and for Cuban Culture Day.
