Harare, January 5, 2026 - The Zimbabwe-Cuba Friendship Association (ZICUFA) today strongly condemned the United States' military aggression against Venezuela and the kidnapping of its President, Nicolás Maduro.
"We express our deepest concern about this cowardly action, which constitutes a criminal act violating International Law and the Charter of the United Nations," ZICUFA stated.
According to the statement, the Zimbabwe-Cuba Friendship Association considered this a dangerous escalation of Washington's sustained war campaign, intensified by the naval deployment in the Caribbean Sea.
"We demand the immediate release of President Maduro and Comrade Cilia Flores, kidnapped during—it emphasized—a flagrant imperialist and fascist aggression aimed at domination and hegemonic ambitions rooted in the Monroe Doctrine."
According to the statement, the White House intends to gain unrestricted access to and control over Venezuela's natural resources, as well as to intimidate the governments of the region.
It also recalled that in January 2014, in Havana, the governments, representing their people, signed the Proclamation of Latin America and the Caribbean as a Zone of Peace, a scenario now under attack by the United States.
The international community cannot allow aggression against a UN member nation to go unpunished, much less—it emphasized—the kidnapping of the legitimate and sitting president of a sovereign country.
As ZICUFA, we call on governments, parliaments, social movements, and peoples of the world to condemn Washington's aggression against Venezuela and to confront this act of state terrorism, which threatens international peace and security.
