Kingston, 27 May 2025. The Ambassador of Cuba to Jamaica, Fermín Quiñones Sánchez, participated in the Conference in celebration of Africa Day organised by the PJ Patterson Institute for the Africa-Caribbean Advocacy. The event, held at the University of the West Indies, Mona Campus, had as its central theme: From ‘us’ and “them” to ‘Ini’, reasoning on Pan-African liberation and reparation.
During his intervention, former Jamaican Prime Minister and great friend of Cuba PJ Patterson recalled the 50th anniversary of Operation Carlota, a military campaign led by Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro Ruz, which was a milestone in the struggle for Angola's sovereignty and independence, the liberation of Namibia and the elimination of the apartheid regime in South Africa.
