On the occasion of the 60th Anniversary of the independence of Ghana, the President of the Councils of State and of Ministers of the Republic of Cuba, H.E Raúl Castro Ruz, has sent a message of congratulation to President of the Republic of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
The message of the Cuban President is an example of the relationships between Cuba and Ghana, established in 1959 by two anti colonialist fighters, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah and the Commander in Chief, Fidel Castro.
Ghana was the first colony in Sub Saharan Africa to gain its independence from the European colonialism. Since that moment Ghana is considered a symbol of the freedom in Africa.
As a result of the Ghana and Cuba historic relationships, around three thousands Ghanaians have being trained in Cuba in different specialties, among them Doctors, Engineers, Professor and Technicians.
The Cuban Minister of Foreign Affairs, Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla, has also sent his message of congratulation to Mrs. Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey, Minister for Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration of the Republic of Ghana.
