Nay Pyi Taw, January 4th, 2020.- President of Myanmar U Win Myint and State Counsellor Aung San Suu Kyi hosted a diplomatic reception in commemoration of the 72nd Anniversary of Independence Day, in the Presidential Palace in Nay Pyi Taw.

The Independence Day celebration was held, with full of political essence, in accordance with the national objectives — to safeguard the non-disintegration of the Union and the non-disintegration of National Solidarity and Perpetuation of Sovereignty with the unity of all national races; to give priority in restoring the peace and stability of the nation and the development of the nation which are crucial for the prevalence of justice; to endeavour to successfully carry out the amendment of the Constitution which plays a vital role in building a democratic federal union; to create a better environment in order to promote the capacity and accountability of the citizens, which is essential to build a democratic federal union; and to build a peaceful democratic nation through the Myanmar Sustainable Development Plan (2018-2030).

On this historic occasion the concurrent Ambassador of Cuba to the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, Héctor Conde Almeida, congratulated its People and Government and conveyed renewed willingness to strengthen bilateral relations.

Supporters of South-South cooperation, the two countries collaborate in various fields, especially Public Health.

This Southeast Asian nation has voted systematically in favor of the resolutions of the UN General Assembly that demand the lifting of the illegal economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States on Cuba.
