New York, June 15th, 2023.- Cuba addressed the debate at the United Nations General Assembly on the “Equal access to justice for all: advancing reforms for peaceful, just and inclusive societies”, an opportunity to show the country´s priorities in the strengthening of the legal and regulatory framework.
During his statement, Ambassador Yuri Gala López, Chargé d´Affaires a.i. made reference to the integral legislative reform that has implied the profound modification of substantive and procedural norms, such as the Criminal Code, the Criminal Procedure Law and the Criminal Enforcement Law.
The Cuban diplomat explained that other relevant norms in that field were the Procedural Code, the Family Code, the Personal Data Protection Law and the Law on the Process of Protection of Constitutional Rights.
Gala López expressed that Cuba has the objective to continue advancing despite the negative impact caused on these efforts by the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed on us by the United States for more than 6 decades; and the disinformation campaign organized and financed against Cuba from that country, which includes the manipulation of elements related to the administration of justice.
