Cuba Demands for an Immediate End to Israeli Genocide in Gaza

Cuba maintains its position in favor of peace in the Middle East and the rejection of the permanent complicity of the United States in the genocide committed by Israel against the Palestinian inhabitants in the Gaza Strip.

Speaking at the UNGA on Tuesday, First Deputy Foreign Minister Gerardo Peñalver rejected Washington’s support for its main ally in the Middle East and considered the ceasefire as a priority to stop Israel’s genocide.

Peñalver, who is also the Cuban permanent representative to the United Nations, said that nothing justifies the collective punishment to which the Palestinian people are being subjected in a flagrant violation of international humanitarian laws.

He recalled the urgent need to achieve a comprehensive, just, and lasting solution to this conflict by establishing two States.

The Israeli aggression that started on October 7, 2023, has so far killed some 23,000 Palestinians, displaced 85 percent of the population, and provoked a severe humanitarian crisis.

Meanwhile, the international community faces severe obstacles in providing humanitarian aid to those affected by the conflict.
