Cuba demands at the UN respect for the Human Rights of all peoples without selectivity or politicization

New York, October 7, 2025 – The Deputy Permanent Representative of Cuba to the United Nations, Ambassador Daylenis Moreno Guerra, spoke at the General Debate of the Third Committee of the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly, dedicated to social, humanitarian and human rights issues.

In her speech, the diplomat reaffirmed Cuba's commitment to international multilateralism, solidarity, and cooperation in the face of hegemony, aggression, and unilateral coercive measures. She warned of the impossibility of achieving most of the Sustainable Development Goals in the current context of global inequality and called for a new, more just, equitable, and inclusive international order that guarantees the right to development and the sovereign equality of States.

Moreno Guerra condemned the genocide and ethnical cleansing of the Palestinian people in Gaza, perpetrated by Israel with the support and impunity granted by the United States, and reaffirmed Cuba’s unwavering solidarity of Cuba with Palestine. She also denounced the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States government against Cuba, which she described as a massive and systematic violation of the human rights of the Cuban people.

The Ambassador rejected the smear campaign against Cuba’s international medical cooperation, highlighting that it has saved millions of lives in more than 160 countries. She reiterated Cuba’s willingness to fulfill its international human rights commitments, and stressed the legislative and social policy advances achieved in the country in favor of gender equality, the protection of children, persons with disabilities, and the fight against racism.

The Cuban Ambassador concluded by reaffirming that, despite the challenges, Cuba will continue to refine its development model, promoting the wellbeing of its people and defending the causes of the South.
