Cuba denounces the impact of the genocidal policy of the blockade to the International Seabed Authority

Kingston, 30 July 2024. The Cuban delegation attending the Assembly of the International Seabed Authority (ISBA) denounced the negative impact of the tightening of the blockade on the honouring of Cuba's financial commitments to international organisations, including the ISBA. In his statement, the Permanent Representative of Cuba, Ambassador Fermín Quiñones Sánchez, exposed the effects of this genocidal policy and the unjustified inclusion of our country in the unilateral and illegal list of states that supposedly sponsor terrorism, which have generated a fierce financial persecution of all transactions carried out by the island.

During his intervention, the Cuban diplomat also highlighted Cuba's ratification of the Agreement on Biological Diversity, beyond National Jurisdiction, as a sign of the relevance that our government attaches to international cooperation in the management of marine resources, their conservation, protection and sustainable use of the oceans and their diversity.

The ISBA Assembly has been in session since 29 July and will conclude its debates on 2 August.
