Athens, 8 September. An important event was held organized by the Work Club of the municipality of New Izmir. Dimitirs Zervas , president of the center, noted the importance of doing this event on achievements of education and science in Cuba on World Literacy Day, also mentioning the solidarity work of Cuban doctors in the world, as well as the Greek initiative to apply for the 2021 Nobel Peace Prize for the Cuban internationalist medical contingent Henry Reeve.
Cuba's ambassador to Greece Zelmys Maria Dominguez Cortina said the central words of the event, highlighting the achievements of the Cuban revolution in education, and health, as well as scientific development achieved, including advances in the field of biotechnology and the pharmaceutical industry. She also referred to the work of Cuban health professionals in the world, essentially now amid the COVID-19 pandemic. She also highlighted the reinforcement of the unjust economic, commercial and financial blockade of USA against Cuba and how the world condemns it.
Later the documentary "Master" by the filmmaker Catherine Murphy was screened, which refers to the literacy campaign carried out by the Cuban revolution in 1961, which was an example to the world. At the end, both the filmmaker and the ambassador answered questions from the attendees.
Dimitris Zervas concluded the event encouraged those present to sign the nobel petition for Cuban doctors.
It was another sample of the Greek people's friendship with the Cuban people and their admiration for the achievements of the revolution.
