Cuba at the forefront of the fight against COVID 19, says former Prime Minister of Jamaica.

Kingston, Jamaica, 3 January 2021. In a note sent to the Cuban Embassy on the occasion of the 62nd anniversary of the Cuban Revolution, former Prime Minister of Jamaica Percival James Patterson stated that Cuba has been at the forefront of the fight against COVID 19 despite the punitive sanctions imposed on the Caribbean nation. "Cuba has engaged in humanitarian ventures which deserve our highest commendation", said PJ Patterson.

The former Jamaican leader and scholar expressed that for many years Cuba has faced innumerable challenges and that despite their frequency and intensity, the Island has shown determination in exercising its sovereignty and in promoting the well-being of its people.

P. J. Patterson was Prime Minister of Jamaica from 1992 to 2006. He currently heads the Centre for Afro-Caribbean Advocacy at the University of the West Indies (UWI), launched in June 2020.
