Cuba grants four scholarships to Barbadian medical students.

Four Barbadian students who applied for scholarships to study medicine at the Latin American School and Caribbean Medicine (ELAM) as part of the program of existing bilateral cooperation between the two countries in the educational field traveled to Havana in the second half of August. The students selected this year were Kachell Tara Yearwood, Shakita Alexandra Morris, Thalayah Onika Butcher-Medford and Faith Gabriela Brome.
With the support of Barbadian solidarity organizations, such as the Association of Friendship Barbados-Cuba and the Clement Payne Movement, it was possible to successfully culminate the selection process started in April, receiving their complete file at the Consulate of Cuba for the beginning of the program they will face during the six years of study.
This program also applies in the other member countries of CARICOM, whom Cuba reported at the Summit of Heads of State and Government held in Havana in December 2014 that the possibility of applying for graduate studies would be extended, with a view to make the second specialty for free, exclusively to our sister Caribbean nations.
