In the framework of the Festival for Peace held in the Danish city of Roskilde, Cuba's Ambassador to Denmark, Yiliam Gómez Sardiñas, stressed the importance of the total elimination of nuclear weapons, while highlighted the scope of the Proclamation of Latin America and the Caribbean as a Zone of Peace, as declared by the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC) in 2014.
The diplomat referred in her speech the efforts of her country in defense of peace, as a legitimate right of every human being and of all peoples, while denouncing the aggressive, unfair and illegal blockade that has been suffering the Cuban people for more than five decades. In the event was also expressed the support and solidarity with the sister Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, whose people militate decisively on the side of peace, as well as to reject the unilateral, unfair and arbitrary actions against that nation.
Representatives of different organizations from the Danish civil society participated in the event, including the Association of Danish Doctors Against Nuclear Weapons (DLMK), the Danish-Cuban Association of Friendship and the Patria Grande group, who joined their voices with artists , intellectuals and diplomats in favor of world peace.
