Geneva, Switzerland, July 11, 2025. Cuba actively participated in the interactive session on the empowerment of women and girls through digital technology, within the framework of the Information Society Summit.
This space fostered the exchange on the transformative role of technology in the lives of women and girls, as well as the promotion of women's leadership in the digital sphere and the inclusion of gender in global technology policies.
Another topic discussed was how to make the Internet a safe space without discrimination for women, ensuring access to digital tools to learn, lead and promote gender equality.
Cuban representatives Odalys Rodríguez del Toro, first deputy president of ETECSA and Yunia Reyes González, Director of Science, Technology and Innovation of the University of Informatics Sciences (UCI), exchanged with participants on the actions of the National Program for the Advancement of Cuban Women.
In particular, they conveyed the country's position on the need to reduce the gender digital gap, foster education and promote female leadership in technologies.
