Cuba-Malaysia Friendship Association holds its Annual General Assembly

Kuala Lumpur, June 1, 2025. The Friends of Cuba Association in Malaysia, (FOCA) held its Annual General Assembly and the election of its new leadership.

The meeting took place at the Cuban Residence in Kuala Lumpur, and it was a pleasure to witness the election of Cuban medical graduates as the new leadership of the Association.

Yadira Ledesma Hernández, Cuban ambassador and honorary member of the Association, recognized the work carried out by the Association in supporting the promotion of friendly, commercial, and cultural relations between the two countries.

She also referred to the joint activities that will be carried out throughout the year, in the context of the 16th anniversary of the Association and the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Cuba and Malaysia.

The meeting highlighted the celebration of the 65th anniversary of the founding of the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples (ICAP); FOCA members were updated on the impacts of the Blockade on Cuba; and the Association's request for new members was announced.

The meeting was an opportunity to share experiences from the Association's 16 years of work, reaffirm its solidarity with #Cuba, and the desire to continue strengthening its ties with the Caribbean nation through culture and mutual respect.
