The Cuban documentary "Mafifa" by Antillean director and producer Daniela Muñoz Barroso was presented last weekend at the MagicalFenerKızılay cinema in the Turkish capital, as part of the 25th International Women's Film Festival "FlyingBroom", which takes place in the Eurasian country from 26 May to 5 June.
The Cuban audiovisual work was exhibited at the renowned international festival alongside 60 productions from Argentina, Belgium, Spain, France, Italy, Lithuania, the United Kingdom, the Dominican Republic, Vietnam and Turkey, among others.
The young Cuban filmmaker answered questions from the large Turkish audience that attended the screening of the documentary inspired by the life of Gladys Esther Linares, alias Mafifa, considered by the devotees of the Santiago conga as the "major bell-ringer".
The presentation of the Cuban feature film in Turkey contributes to the dissemination of the island's cultural and heritage values among the Turkish public and to the promotion of women in all spheres of society through the performing arts.
