Cuba participates in the 57th session of the United Nations Commission on Population and Development.

New York, April 29, 2024.- Cuba participates in the 57th period of sessions of the United Nations Commission on Population and Development, which begins today, at the headquarters of this multilateral organization in this city, and will last until Friday. May 3.

The main theme of the 57th session is: “Assess the status of the implementation of the Program of Action of the International Conference on Population and Development and its contribution to the follow-up and review of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development during the decade of action and execution for sustainable development.”

Cuba is a member of the Commission on Population and Development, which is made up of 47 Member States elected by the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) for a period of four years on the basis of geographical distribution.

The Cuban delegation is headed by Juan Carlos Alfonso Fraga, vice head of the National Office of Statistics and Information (ONEI) and is also composed of representatives of the Permanent Mission of Cuba to the United Nations in New York.
