Cuba participates in the 62nd Ordinary Session of the Authority of Heads of State and Government of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS)

Nigeria, December 4, 2022.- The Cuban ambassador, Clara M. Pulido Escandell, participated, as part of the diplomatic corps accredited in the country, in the Sixty-second Ordinary Session of the Authority of Heads of State and Government of the Economic Community of the West African States (ECOWAS) this December 4, 2022 in Abuja.

The event was inaugurated by the organization's President Pro Tempore, the Head of State of Guinea Bissau, Umaro Sissoco Embaló, who stressed the importance of cooperation, respect for national laws and the respective constitutions, and the fight against extremism and corruption in the subregion.

During the session, Dr. Alieu Omar Touray, a Gambian, was sworn in as the new President of the ECOWAS Commission. During the presentation of the State of the Community report, he assured that the new management of the ECOWAS Commission will continue with the programs and projects of the previous administration, particularly in the areas of reforms and reorganization to advance ECOWAS Vision 2050.
