Cuba Participates in Annual Event of the Diplomatic Spouses Association in Wellington

Wellington, 15 May 2025 – Hortensia Rodríguez Martínez, First Secretary of the Embassy of the Republic of Cuba in New Zealand, recently participated in the annual culinary gathering organized by the Diplomatic Spouses Association in Wellington. This event celebrates cultural diversity through gastronomy and gathers representatives from various diplomatic missions accredited in the country.

During the event, the First Secretary engaged in a cordial conversation with Dr. Richard Davies, the husband of the Governor-General of New Zealand, who attended as a special guest. In a warm and respectful atmosphere, Dr. Davies shared his experiences with Cuban doctors during his time in Venezuela, highlighting the humanitarian and professional work of the Cuban medical team.

He also expressed interest in learning more about Cuba’s international medical cooperation, acknowledging the important role that the Caribbean nation plays in providing healthcare services to vulnerable and underserved regions worldwide.

The Embassy’s participation in events such as this reaffirms Cuba’s commitment to intercultural dialogue and to strengthening the bonds of friendship with the people and institutions of New Zealand.
