Vientiane, December 12, 2025. The Secretary-General of the Central Committee of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party, Thongloun Sisoulith, presided over the celebration of the 105th anniversary of the extraordinary leader Kaysone Phomvihane. Cuba was represented by Ambassador Enna Viant Valdes, along with colleagues from China, Vietnam, Mongolia, Cambodia, and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea.

In his historic intervention, Secretary-General Sisoulith expressed about Kaysone that "he is worthy of being the great Hero of the Laotian nation, the brave and consistent revolutionary, the great patriot, the exemplary son of the Lao people of all ethnicities." Cuba is honored by the closeness in ideals and affectionate ties between Kaysone Phomvihane and the historic leader Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro, whose centenary we will celebrate in 2026, which history coincided with the 50th anniversary of the arrival of this illustrious  son and brother of Laos,  to Havana. They are symbols of the cherished friendship and fraternity between the Parties, Governments, and peoples of Laos and the Caribbean nation.
