Cuba participates in a ceremony organized by the United Nations in Nigeria to award the Sustainable Development Goals Award.

Nigeria, April 28, 2023. The Cuban Counselor Pavel Bauzá Fusté, as part of the accredited diplomatic corps in Abuja, participated in a ceremony organized by the United Nations representation in Abuja, to present the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) award to the Minister of State for Budget and National Planning of Nigeria, The Honorable Prince Clem Ikanade Agba.

The Coordinator of the United Nations in Nigeria, Mr. Mathias Schmale, said that the award was given for the contributions made by the Minister of State to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals and for his dedicated and challenging work towards this purposes.

Before a warm ovation, the Honorable Prince Clem Ikanade Agba thanked the award, pointing out that it constitutes a high honor for him and his work team, which reaffirms his commitment to continue working and contributing as much as possible to meet the Objectives. The minister emphasized, "that the 17 goals and 169 targets, for which indicators exist and monitoring systems are being established, form the fulcrum of a new social contract between world leaders and their peoples."

During the ceremony, Counselor Pavel Bauzá, on behalf of the Cuban Ambassador in Nigeria, Clara M. Pulido Escandell and his country, conveyed the warmest congratulations to the Nigerian Minister for his achievements.
