CUBA PARTICIPATES IN EXTRAORDINARY CONGRESS OF ZANU PF

The Chargé d'Affaires a.i. of the Cuban Embassy in Zimbabwe, Vladimir Guerra, participated in the Extraordinary Congress of the ZANU PF that was held on Friday 15th in the capital of this country, Harare. The Communist Party of Cuba (CPC) sent a message of solidarity that was read by Vladimir, highlighting the strong ties between Cuba and Zimbabwe, and reaffirming the commitment to continue strengthening the relations of friendship and cooperation between both parties.

The ZANU PF Congress was celebrated under the slogan: "Consolidate what has been achieved through Unity, Peace and Development". The appointment ratified Emmerson Mnangagwa as the current president of Zimbabwe and First Secretary of the Party, as well as being the candidate for next year's elections. The resolution of November 19, 2017 of the Special Session of the Central Committee was also approved, which included, among other things, the expulsion of 20 members of the G40 faction, led by the former First Lady, Grace Mugabe.

This Extraordinary Congress has great historical importance because it is the first without the leadership of Mugabe, and sets the objectives of the Party's work for this new stage in relation to the development of the country.
