CUBA PARTICIPATES IN THE FIRST REGULAR SESSION OF THE UNICEF EXECUTIVE BOARD

The first regular session of the UNICEF Executive Board began this Tuesday at the United Nations Headquarters in New York. 

The Permanent Representative of Cuba to the United Nations, Ernesto Soberón Guzmán, highlighted the importance of UNICEF's work in protecting the rights of children around the world.

He highlighted the progress made by the organization in the implementation of its Strategic Plan 2022-2025 and expressed Cuba's willingness to participate actively and constructively in the preparation of the next Strategic Plan 2026-2029.

He also stressed that the next cycle must be consistent with the mandates contained in resolution 79/226 on the Quadrennial Comprehensive Policy Review (QCPR) of the operational activities for the development of the United Nations system. He also emphasized the need for flexible, adequate and predictable resources to enable UNICEF to carry out its mandate effectively.

In conclusion, Mr. Soberón Guzmán reaffirmed Cuba's commitment to the work and mandate of UNICEF and expressed its willingness to continue to promote cooperation with the Organization, particularly in the health sector, where Cuba's experience and results enjoy wide international recognition and prestige.
