Cuba participates in the founding of the Hague Group

The Hague, January 31, 2025. At the headquarters of Het Nutshuis, the Hague Group was established, in solidarity with the Palestinian cause. The group is made up of Belize, Bolivia, Colombia, Cuba, Honduras, Malaysia, Namibia, Senegal and South Africa, and is the result of an initiative promoted by Progressive International.

Cuba joins this new initiative of solidarity with the brother people of Palestinine, with our national hero’s belief that “Homeland is humankind”, and in line with Cuba’s historical position in pursuit of a comprehensive, just and lasting solution to the conflict, based on the creation of two States, that allow the Palestinian people to exercise their right to self-determination and to have an independent and sovereign State, within the pre-1967 borders and with East Jerusalem as its capital; as well as allowing refugees to return to their homeland.

In her intervention at the inaugural ceremony, the representative of the Cuban Embassy in the Netherlands, highlighted Cuba's decision to participate, as a Third State, in the lawsuit filed by South Africa against Israel before the International Court of Justice; as well as the result of the Advisory Opinion issued by the Court, on the legal consequences of the Israeli occupation, which show clear evidence of the illegality of said occupation and highlights Israel's responsibilities.

Likewise, she reaffirmed Cuba´s solidarity and support to the brother people of Palestine, who have been victim for more than 75 years of colonial occupation and flagrant violations to their legitimate rights as a nation. She reiterated that Cuba will never be amongst the indifferent to injustice. The Palestinian cause may always count on our firm solidarity.
