Cuba participates in general debate at the 30th Conference of States Parties to the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons

The Hague, 25 November 2025. #Cuba took part today in the general debate of the 30th Conference of States Parties to the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW), which is being held from 24 to 28 November at the World Forum convention centre in The Hague, Netherlands.

Cuba's permanent representative to the OPCW, Eva Yelina Silva Walker, reiterated Cuba's unwavering condemnation of the use of chemical weapons anywhere, by any actor and under any circumstances, as well as Cuba's commitment to the full, effective and non-discriminatory implementation of all provisions of the Chemical Weapons Convention (CWC)

She also denounced the continued violation of the Convention by the US Government, which has maintained an illegal and inhumane economic, commercial and financial blockade against #Cuba for more than six decades, with a marked extraterritorial character, affecting the proper application of the treaty.

Expressing concern about the challenging international context, the diplomat condemned the ongoing massacre against the Palestinian people and rejected the threat of the use of force against Venezuela, in clear violation of the UN Charter, international law and the commitment of the 33 countries of the region to proclaim Latin America and the Caribbean a Zone of Peace at the CELAC Summit held in Havana in 2014. in 2014.

The Conference is the plenary body of the OPCW and oversees the implementation of the CWC, promotes its objectives and reviews compliance.
