Cuba Participates in Religious Service Honoring the Nigerian Armed Forces

Abuja, January 11, 2026. — The Third Secretary of the Embassy of the Republic of Cuba to the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Ana Flavia Gómez Pavot, participated in the Inter-Denominational Church Service for the 2026 Armed Forces celebration and remembrance day held at the National Church of Nigeria. The solemn event highlighted their commitment to the defense of the nation and the preservation of peace.

The service was presided over by the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives of Nigeria, Honorable Benjamin Kalu, and the Minister of Defence of Nigeria, retired General Christopher Musa. It was also attended by representatives of the diplomatic corps accredited in the country, as well as senior officers and distinguished members of the Nigerian Armed Forces.

During the ceremony, the fundamental role played by the Nigerian Armed Forces in the fight against terrorism was underscored, along with their ongoing efforts to safeguard the country’s security, stability, and peace. The event provided a space for reflection, recognition, and tribute to the sacrifice and dedication of the men and women serving in Nigeria’s military institutions.

The participation of the Cuban representation reaffirmed Cuba’s respect and solidarity with the Nigerian people and State, as well as its recognition of the role of the Armed Forces in defending national sovereignty and peace.
