Cuba participates in the Second Conference of the High Contracting Parties to the ASEAN Treaty of Amity and Cooperation.

JAKARTA, September 18, 2025. Cuban Ambassador to ASEAN Dagmar González Grau delivers a speech at the Second Conference of the High Contracting Parties to the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation in Southeast Asia (TAC).

The Ambassador expressed that ASEAN has been a steadfast ally in the defense of Cuban sovereignty, year after year supporting the Resolution against the economic and commercial embargo imposed on Cuba by the United States.

She emphasized the importance of Cuba acknowledging ASEAN as a successful model for sustainable development and regional integration.

She noted that November of this year marked five years since Cuba took the significant step of joining the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation in Southeast Asia and affirmed that it was a historic moment that marked the beginning of a new chapter in Cuba's relations with ASEAN member countries, based on mutual respect, solidarity, and peaceful cooperation.

The signing of this treaty was not a symbolic gesture, but a firm declaration of principles. Cuba became the first Caribbean nation and the fifth in Latin America to join this instrument, reaffirming its commitment to multilateralism, non-intervention, and peaceful conflict resolution.
