Cuba participates in the Workshop on the Global Stocktake on compliance with the Paris Agreement

Cuba participates, as President of the Group of 77 plus China, the largest negotiating group of developing countries, in the Workshop on the Global Stocktake on compliance with the Paris Agreement to confront Climate Change, which takes place from October 12 to 14, 2023, at the Anwar Gargash Diplomatic Academy,  in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.

The Cuban delegation is composed by Ambassador Pedro Luis Pedroso Cuesta, Special Representative to coordinate the Presidence of the Group; Ambassador María del Carmen Herrera Caseiro, Deputy Director General for Multilateral Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Cuba; and Norberto C. Escalona Carrillo, Ambassador of Cuba to the UAE.

The United Arab Emirates will host the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP 28) in 2023. Numerous consultation meetings have been organized in the UAE and other nations, leading up to the Conference of the Parties. Cuba's role this year, at the head of the G77 + China, has been fundamental to reaffirm the position of the Global South, in the face of common challenges that concern humanity, in particular the right to development, from a sustainable approach and the critical need to survive as a species, in harmony with the planet.
