On February 23, 2019, the first edition of the Jakarta Latin American Film Festival #LAFFJakarta was inaugurated. The opening took place at the headquarters of the National Library of Indonesia in the presence of the ambassadors of Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Mexico and Cuba, countries participating in the event.
During the first day of the Festival the Cuban film "Habanaestation" was screened. The occasion was propitious to highlight the 60th Anniversary of the founding of the Cuban Institute of Art and Cinematographic Industry (ICAIC) and its notable contribution to the development of Cuban cinema after the triumph of the Revolution.
The Jakarta Latin American Film Festival will run until March 4. The billboard also includes the projection of the other two films of the Caribbean island: "Los dioses rotos" and El Benny " This initiative makes a significant contribution to the cultural exchange between Indonesia and Latin America, because not only are films from this region of the world screened, but also, countries have the opportunity to perform culinary exhibitions, question and answer sessions and competitions of knowledge.
