Cuba pays tribute to its endearing friend Samuel Daniel Shafiishuna ‘Sam’ Nujoma.

Accra, 21/02/2025. - In the presence of former Ghanaian President His Excellency Hon. John Kufuor, the Speaker of Parliament His Excellency Hon. Alban Bagbin, the Minister of Foreign Affairs His Excellency Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, as well as representatives of the Diplomatic Corps accredited in this capital, among other personalities, a heartfelt ceremony of posthumous tribute to the Founding Father and First President of the Republic of Namibia, His Excellency Dr. Sam Nujoma, was held at the Ghana International Convention Centre.

The event was hosted by the High Commissioner of the Republic of Namibia, H.E. Ms. Selma Ashipala-Musaviy, a great friend of Cuba.

On behalf of the Embassy of the Republic of Cuba in the Republic of Ghana, Second Secretary, Yamil Eduardo Martinez Marrero evoked the fraternal historical relationship of our people with the beloved Namibian leader, particularly his close identification with the Commander-in-Chief, Fidel Castro Ruz and Army General, Raul Castro Ruz.

In their words of remembrance, several speakers referred to Cuba's role in the struggles for African independence and against the Apartheid regime.
