Stockholm, April 6, 2024. The Second Secretary of the Embassy of Cuba in Stockholm, Yohanna Cordero Llanuch, engaged in a virtual exchange with supportive friends discussing Cuba's role in maintaining peace in the region.
The meeting, sponsored by the Latin American-European Link project, comprised European Ecuadorian residents and was streamed live on the group's YouTube and Facebook channels.
In her remarks, the Cuban diplomat underscored Cuba's efforts to foster a safer and more stable region, contributing to fundamental human rights such as health, education, culture, and sports by deploying professionals to areas most needed.
Additionally, she highlighted Cuba's performance in various Latin American and Caribbean integration mechanisms, such as CELAC, ALBA TCP, and the SAO PAULO Forum. She also emphasized its role as a guarantor of peace processes in Colombia and their significance.
The existence of coercive mechanisms and measures imposed by the United States against Cuba, such as the creation of unilateral lists including alleged terrorism-sponsoring countries or violators of religious freedoms, as well as the enforcement of a severe blockade constituting the primary obstacle to the development of the Cuban nation and its relations with third parties due to its extraterritorial nature, were cited as examples of the aggressions faced by a supportive and peaceful country.
The Second Secretary conveyed that despite facing wars and intrusive actions waged without bombs but causing suffering to its population, Cuba remains committed to promoting peace and solidarity in the region.
