Cuba praises Vietnam’s support to its Chairmanship of Group 77 and China.

New York, February 14th, 2023.- Ambassador Pedro Luis Pedroso Cuesta, permanent representative of Cuba to United Nations, praised Vietnam’s support and confidence to Cuba’s Pro Tempore Chairmanship of Group 77 and China.

This appreciation was expressed during a friendly meeting convened by Ambassador Dang Hoang Giang, permanent representative of Vietnam to United Nations, aiming at conveying to his Cuban counterpart the support and coordination at different UN fora in order to defend the interests of the South countries.

Hoang Giang recalled the friendship between the two nations and highlighted that during 2023 it will be celebrated the 50th anniversary of Fidel’s first visit to Vietnam. Giang also addressed the generous and diverse gestures by the Cuban Revolution at all times, and reaffirmed Vietnam does not forget the generations graduated in Cuba and the recent support to fight Covid-19.

Pedroso Cuesta cited the reciprocal friendship as well as the special admiration and respect of Cubans to the bravery and resistance of the Vietnamese people. He further expressed that this spirit comes from Marti in his article: “A journey through the land of the Annamese”, that was strengthened by Fidel and the appreciation to the example and leadership of Ho Chi Minh.

Cuba appreciates, once again, Vietnam’s compromise with this singular multilateral year, of great challenges and complex processes that will demand the decisive action from South countries.
